Do we really need to wash the egg shells for the compost?

I have a 55-gallon compost rotation. I have my own compost, waste Kitchen, Eggshell (no washing), coffee, vegetable and fruit scraps. But a friend told me, should I wash the eggshells by Salmonella. I Mixed opinions online, but I would get a solid answer as seen from someone who knows what they are talking about.
