New worm: If the worms do not like your life situation?

I have my days vermicompost first and I noticed that whenever there is significant Number of worms in the vicinity of the cap or lid, which I think makes it a little inconvenient to establish vermicompost (because they do not want to be where the food?) Or simply go where they want the worms? Thank you.
