small compost bins

Bugs in the compost?
I just started a compost bin remains (only with fruits and vegetables). It has only a week in the garden and I have problems with insects in the table (which are very small – like a little mosquito or sand flies). When I open the lid to the garbage they fly and leave annoying bites on my skin. Who knows how to solve this problem?
Hello, your compost bin / pile is a point of insects, but it must be "HOT" to kill the eggs and such. Try something like dry grass or leaves, so the nitrogen can step in the process of degradation. It takes a load balancing in the "Green" and "brown" for best results. Also, rotate or mix things up every day, gas and CO2 gas passing Ethelyn insects, which can be expected. The greatest thing is that turn / mix often can not access the water content of records. http://forums2.gardenweb. com / forums / Floor / Hope this can help, Dave
