How long does it take sheets of clay turn into something like composting? (See details)?

I know it takes a long time for the material Compost pile to break one, so it is suitable for plants (two years), and I know it ceases to be with other materials in a compost pile or cups mix. That's not what curious that I have, it's the nature of the composted leaves, I'm asking. For example, how long it takes to take leaves for the proper management of vessels compost to fall into something that feels like clay * when you hold in your hand? Thank you.
