Growing your own strawberries pay dividends many. Even if you do not have room for a whole strawberry field, are attractive, if plants in containers and hanging baskets grown and has become a delicious fruit and the ability to jam its own reward.

Where they grow

Strawberries are grown in all white-sand to heavy clay. The ideal soil is well drained and rich in humus. When strawberries are in wet soil may rot. They like, in full sun, sheltered from the wind. If you are lucky enough to have a space for a bed full of strawberries, we must remember crop rotation to move after a few years (see below)

If you are not a lot of space to grow your berries in a bowl. Go to a special container cutter, and providing proper drainage – as well as an attractive appearance. If you prefer, you can grow in hanging baskets that look good, keep the plants sure to screw and avoid the need of the straw in the ground (see below).

When increasing

Strawberry plants were planted out in late June to September. If the plants later, Flowers should be removed in the first year, so that the energy used for a healthy plant for year two for development.

How grow

1. Prepare the soil for planting, dig through it and is sure to get rid of weeds and adding compost or manure.

2. If you have a whole strawberry property you want to be planted in rows. Plant your strawberry plants (35 cm) on a foot apart in each row, with about twice the space between the lines.

3. Make sure the plant has its crown at ground level. Water on each floor.

4. To spread the worm shells bay broken egg on each plant anti-bullet or pellets. The plant will be its name from the obligation to spread straw between the plants to suppress weeds and leave the fruit on the ground. If you can not get a straw, use garbage bags.

5. For birds and other animals at bay is a good idea to cover the bed with mosquito netting.

His strawberry plants can keep producing fruit for 5-6 years but the performance decreases significantly after years and the plants can vulnerable to pests and diseases. For this reason, usually strawberry beds removed and new planting in another area of the garden.

Composting is a great way to help the environment, and create compost for your garden. Much of the organic waste (eg food) thrown out the kitchen can be placed in your compost, and became a great soil conditioner.

Ideally, your compost should be in a sunny spot and the heat is sun contribute to your compost decompose faster – even if this were not possible, the compost can be placed anywhere.

Your compost needs good ventilation to work well, so make sure your layer of organic waste. Try putting different types of organic matter in your compost, so you have a layer of 5 cm food waste, followed by a layer of newspaper twisted 5 cm. Therefore, the airflow through the compost.

If you have any vegetarian animal bedding is these very well in a composter. I must stress that should be your bedding animals do not eat meat, otherwise your compost smells really bad.

The more Hot compost, faster than the compound produced. The black plastic composter, which can be acquired, are ideal for really hot in the sun. During the summer months can compost in a few months. The bacteria are very slow in crediting the winter months, so probably need to wait for the spring of Use compost.

After more than a composter is better if you'm so full it can cause bacteria and worms, and work while starting the next tray.

"The materials are well established for your subscription:

  • Kitchen waste (not cooked meat, because it attracts rats)
  • The animal bedding
  • Paper
  • Cardboard
  • Clippings
  • yard waste (no weeds, because seeds can germinate)

Contrary to popular opinion, in the event that no composting odors. If you do not start to smell, taste different adding ingredients. Too much garbage (like kitchen waste) make the compost to be ready to slow down, causing the odor.

Have a look at compost bins, and kitchen caddies to store your kitchen waste. If you’re considering a compost bin, why not invest in a water butt too? See http://www.internetaffiliation.co.uk for a whole host of other interesting articles.

Why are some plants in my compost box? And it is good or healthy?

I planted a few seeds in pots in early summer. All my potted plants have died because of too much sun when the rain comes sun and more when it finally rains in Illinois. I put my old school papers and soil and bark and watermelon and melon seeds in the compost box, but I do not grow. I have not watered in about a month ago or so and the plants that grow larger than Marijuana plants in two months. Why these plants as well if I am not inclined to them? And it's healthy to continue to grow and eat as soon as they are big enough? Please help!

They grow because the conditions are perfect. When mature live long enough, he'll be fine.

What are the prices of alfalfa and grass hay in your area?

We had a dry June and July (38 days without rain) and now we have many lively the last two weeks. Good quality hay last year, but now there are a lot of rot in the clouds, it will not heal. I live in Dakota South and round bales of grass hay is about $ 80/ton. Everyone seems to be hanging, what they have. Just curious, what is happening across the country. Thanks! Mckaytaylor, you are right. My question is kind of Vaughan. I spoke yesterday with my cousin who is mostly row crops and livestock are not. He puts his whole alfalfa in small square (really ready for children, to throw more balls that are), and provides small amounts of bullets to horse breeders and charges $ 8/bale fantasy. It's really nice hay and pay higher prices for small amounts.

Here in eastern Oklahoma, just good seats up to 1000 Bermuda hay, 60 bales of pounds, and range from $ 3.00 each. We also have some big returns (800 pounds) and will contribute $ 22 – depending on I have no alfalfa 28th, but I see advertisements for $ 5 a bullet in the field, drag. After the drought in recent years, however, when these same farm only 670 square bales total worldwide (!!), the light is very excited to have made hay to death!

I need advice / opinions?

I'm very intense, recycling and renewable energy. I like the idea of throwing "junk" distance without doing anything to help the environment. For example, at work, I try to recycle and personal income. But very few people bother, how can I encourage them to be even more wasteful way through the material? I am also running a small worm farm and compost, but I feel my efforts compared to the big problem is useless. I feel bad that no one seems to care … Besides, I have 18 and I live with my father n mother, and I look at the systems Greywater Panels / Solar. We had conducted only the renovation, when I suggest that you buy a solar energy system is in this sense, the existing electrical Work? Finally, I was actually looking for someone to help me design a website to promote renewable energy and recycling in general. any help welcome Msn: robakareidy_17@hotmail.com

That's the big question. How to make people care? If it was that simple we would not be in the mess we now. I had circulating YouTube videos of the great Pacific people dump shows what can happen all the garbage we throw away. In fact, I get a lot of Comments on them. I think if people really see what happens, it hits home a little more difficult. Unfortunately, I think most people do not mind things like that when you knock on your wallet: (this is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8a4S23uXIcM&feature=related KUDOS to you for your active and responsible manner. I know you feel like you can not make a difference when a person, but you are. The change starts small. :) Keep up the great work!

Bee's in my compost?

How can the bees in my compost? I really do not want to use any chemicals, such as compost in vegetable leaves. I'm out of a trash can, I think on the cover, but they get through the vents I've done. I am soooo afraid of bees and made, any ideas? No Hneybees, wasps! Yes, I am sure their bees.

You can adjust the screen or attached with small pieces screen over the holes. A good silicone adhesive, sealants should be attached to them through all kinds of weather. Are you sure bees? You could yellow jackets – which tend to feed on the messages, maintain, and more temperamental bees.
